About Me Freya's Fire is a one-woman show run by yours truly, who has persued artistic endeavors since the tender age of two (according to her mom), and has been making high quality beaded jewelry for the past seven years. I grew up in southern NJ, but managed to escape, and currently reside in southeastern PA. I draw upon my love of history, archeology, world religions, and art to create unique jewelry, often with a metaphysical theme. I have studied and worked with the metaphysical properties of stones, herbs, and essential oils for over fifteen years. Lately I have been at the PA Renn Faire, working alongside the wonderful group of women that make up Elemental, on Avalon Hill. I am currently East Coast Team Coordinator for the Coyote Run Street Teams, which work to promote the shows and music of one of PARF's favorite Celtic bands, Coyote Run. PA Renn Faire season once again!

Monday, August 18, 2008, 09:44 PM EST [General]

Here we are, past the second weekend of the 2008 season already. Elemental has a new location at the bottom of Swashbuckler Hill, across from the building that now houses Fiona's Finery. We're fairly hard to miss, just look for the tent on the corner with the flowers wrapped around the tent posts, and at least one or two lasses outside blowing bubbles.  We've also been informed by her Majesty that we are the booth "that smells good" anytime she walks past it.

This coming weekend is Swashbuckler weekend, and also heralds the return of Coyote Run to the PA Shire! They will be performing all of this weekend, then will return again for the entire month of October. They have been moved from the Swashbuckler stage to the O'Malley's Pour House stage this year, so do be sure to pick up a copy of the Daily Writ upon entering the gates to see exactly what times they are performing. Anyone that is used to seeing Giacomo perform his love ballads at 7 pm should be aware that the show time has been moved to 2:30 pm, still in Sir Jacob's Garden.  Presumably people got tired of listening to him sing in the dark, plus it tended to clash with final joust.  Empty Hats has also been moved from the Swashbuckler Stage to the Boarshead Inn stage; performance times are 12:30 and 3:30.

Please come out to see us; we will be most happy to see you! As I am not very good at remembering names, be sure to mention your screen name on RenSpace so there's a decent chance I will remember who you are.  Photos coming soon!

    Attention Ebay Sellers!!

Wednesday, July 2, 2008, 05:07 AM EST [General]

Passing this along via another blog......

eBay has changed their linking policy! You can no longer link to any websites outside of eBay that you sell items on in your About Me Page! I read on the forums that some people have already received warnings and/or had their accounts suspended over this crap :P

"The new Links Policy prohibits linking from a seller's listing or other content on eBay--including eBay Store pages, About Me pages, eBay Blogs, Reviews and Guides, and forums--to any site that offers a product or service for sale off eBay..... Sellers who do not comply may be restricted, forfeit fee credits, or be suspended.... Enforcement of the new policy will begin in July. "

    Face Painters Wanted! (PA Area)

Monday, June 30, 2008, 07:35 PM EST [General]

I'm looking for face painters in the SE PA area that would be willing to travel to Spring City, PA to work at a concert/masquerade party at Chaplin's Music Cafe on August 8th. The concert is scheduled to start around 8 pm and will probably go on until at least 11 pm. The band playing that night is Coyote Run. If you're interested, or know someone that might be, post a comment or send me a message with your contact info, and I'll pass it along to the band. Feel free to cross post. Thanks!!

    RIP George Carlin

LOS ANGELES - Comedian George Carlin, a counter-culture hero famed for his routines about drugs and dirty words, died of heart failure at a Los Angeles-area hospital on Sunday, a spokesman said. He was 71.

Carlin, who had a history of heart and drug-dependency problems, died at Saint John's Health Center in Santa Monica about 6 p.m. PDT after being admitted earlier in the afternoon for chest pains, spokesman Jeff Abraham told Reuters.

Known for his edgy, provocative material, Carlin achieved status as an anti-Establishment icon in the 1970s with stand-up bits full of drug references and a routine called "Seven Words You Can Never Say On Television." A regulatory battle over a radio broadcast of the routine ultimately reached the U.S. Supreme Court.

In the 1978 case, Federal Communications Commission vs. Pacifica Foundation, the top U.S. court ruled that the words cited in Carlin's routine were indecent, and that the government's broadcast regulator could ban them from being aired at times when children might be listening.

Carlin's comedic sensibility often came back to a central theme: humanity is doomed.

"I don't have any beliefs or allegiances. I don't believe in this country, I don't believe in religion, or a god, and I don't believe in all these man-made institutional ideas," he told Reuters in a 2001 interview.

Carlin, who wrote several books and performed in many television comedy specials, is survived by his wife Sally Wade, and daughter Kelly Carlin McCall.
